Show (2017), Vancouver, Canada

Prompted by an architectural competition, seeking for a temporary outdoor art exhibition structure, challenging the conventional experience and possibilities of art-appreciating activities. With regards to its local context in Downtown Vancouver, SHOW is strategically situated at the centre of Robson Square, one of the city’s most noteworthy landscape and architectural development, designed by the pronounced landscape architect, Cornelia Oberlander, and architect Arthur Erickson. With a monumental architectural surrounding that makes it a gathering destination and tourist attraction, Robson Square has always been a social and cultural hub amongst locals and visitors. Furthermore, the city’s recent urban renewal decision of turning Block 800 (where the project sits) into a pedestrian-only plaza enhanced the street life in this area.
